Energy Savings Scheme Rule (ESS Rule) has been released by the Department of Water and Energy. The ESS Rule is anticipated to be Gazetted on 3 July 2009.

The Electricity Supply Amendment (Energy Savings) Bill 2009, which will establish the Energy Savings Scheme to commence on 1 July 2009, was assented to on 19 June 2009

The Scheme Administrator would like to remind all Abatement Certificate Providers who have accredited abatement projects, that the registration of NGACs (or LUACs) for abatement that occurred in the 2008 calendar year must be completed by 30 June 2009. Certificates for 2008 vintage cannot be created after this date.

Legislation introduced into Parliament closing off applications to GGAS and halting NGAC creation from Category A Generation projects as of 1 July 2009

The NSW Government has announced an energy efficiency scheme intended to build on the energy efficiency achievements of GGAS.  The Scheme, to be known as the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS), will commence on 1 July 2009 and will continue until 2020 unless replaced by a national scheme.  More information is available from the Department of Climate Change and the Department of Water and Energy websites.



19 February 2009

The Scheme Administrator has released the Methane Energy Uncertainty Methodology (MEUM).  The MEUM provides applicants and ACPs with a tool to determine the uncertainty associated with the measurement of actual energy content for the purposes of Equations 13 or 16 of the Generation Rule.
