Registry User Guide

Self registered users
Any organisation or individual may own and can voluntarily surrender certificates. A ‘guest’ login allows members of the public to access the Registry and create accounts as required. However, due to the monetary value of certificates, self-registered accounts have an initial ownership limit of 1,000 certificates which can be removed upon application to the Scheme Administrator.  If a transfer of certificates results in the ownership of more than 1,000 certificates the certificates cannot be transferred out or surrendered until the limit has been removed.

Applications for removal of certificate limit

The 1,000 certificate limit on self registered accounts can be removed upon application to the Scheme Administrator. Applicants should submit the Application form – Certificate Limit Removal along with supporting documentation as outlined in the application form.

Voluntary surrender

The Registry allows owners of certificates to offset emissions through the surrender certificates (regarded as voluntary surrender). The surrender of one certificate is equivalent to the abatement of one tonne of carbon dioxide. More information on the process for voluntary surrender is available in the Fact sheet – Voluntary Surrender.
More information on the use of the Registry is provided in the frequently asked questions and the Registry user guide.
